Keystone Greyhounds Picnic 2005
On Sunday, June 12th, 2005, approximately 180 greyhound-lovers and their 110 hounds (plus at least one whippet) gathered at Harrisburg's City Island "Carousel Pavilion" for the first annual Keystone Greyhounds picnic. Hounds and Humans compensated for the high temperature and humidity by indulging in a lot of complementary bottled water and lying around - essentially, a perfect greyhound day. Attendees received wonderful "goodie bags" packed with chewies, mouse pads, breath-strips, etc.. Everyone was excited about the prospect of winning some top-notch raffle items generously donated by folks who know how to make dog-loving hearts go "pitter-patter". The offerings included essential grooming and maintenance products, veterinary gift certificates, elegant collars, jewelry, and dog beds. The highlight of the "live auction" fund raiser for Vinnie's Fund was the gift-basket in tribute to Vinnie's favorite items. Throughout the day there were tables laden with LOTS of food and plenty of deserts. The Keystone Kids, in bright gold t-shirts, were kept busy helping with the raffle, organizing name tags and Keystone member gifts, painting toe-nails, and leading greyhound games. The spirit of the event was captured in Andrea Haldeman's "Blessing of the Hounds". Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie of the wonderful day spent with loving, like-minded greyhound folks (and dogs!) You'll want to be there next year - maybe even with an additional member in your pack! (excerpt taken from summer 2005 Keystone Greyhounds Needlenose News)

Greyhound (and human) games!

Well, this wasn't much fun for the hounds, but it was a GREYT service
for the humans! Dr Deaven trims toenails.
