Saturday, May 10, 2008 - 4th Annual Pets on the Square - Hummelstown
Come Strut Your Stuff in Hummelstown! Time: 1 PM to 4 PM. Place: On the Square in Hummelstown. Keystone Greyhounds will be part of the excitement with an ex-pen and a foster or two on the Square and information on greyhound adoption, along with pet-related vendors and demonstration tables lining the sidewalks of Center Square. There will be animal rescues with petting areas, Dauphin County K-9 Unit, dog wash area, and stage with emcee announcing sponsors & commenting on the event. At 3:30 PM....the Strutting begins and travels down Main Street led by a kazoo band & distinguished animal Grand Marshal. Brightly-colored banners, carried high above the crowd, introduce each of the five contest categories: Pretty in Pink, Beautiful in Blue, Brawny in Brown, Gorgeous in Green, and Proud to be an American. The emcee paints a visual picture as each category of pets passes by the stage. Pets of all sizes & shapes will be dressed & competing for prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention) in their color category. There will be an Awards Ceremony following the strutting. This is a fun-filled family day in Hummelstown. Come on out with your colorful greyhound and strut your stuff....who knows? You may even win first prize! The Grapehound Wine Tour is a celebration of greyhound adoption in America. Mark your calendars for the annual Keystone Picnic to be held at the Carousel Pavilion on Harrisburg's City Island on Sept. 20th. This event is free to Keystone members, open to public ticket sales, and always provides a day full of "smiles" for hounds and humans alike. Picnic registration will be mailed to members prior to the event. The general public may purchase admission at-the-door. More details to follow.
